Celite Filter Aids

Information

Question What is the difference between Celite 545 (J.T.Baker 3371) and Celite 503 (J.T.Baker E406)?
Answer

Celite 545 is a fairly coarse filter aid that may be characterized as a higher flow-rate product.. Celite 503 is less permeable than 545 and has a slower flow rate capability.
For this reason, the viscosity of the liquid should be taken into consideration when choosing a Celite product. Celite 545 would be more suitable for higher viscosity products or operation at lower temperatures. Celite 503 would be used for lower viscosity liquids.
