Phthalates in packaging
Information
Question | Are there any phthalates used in the packaging of your products? |
Answer |
Avantor Performance Materials does not use materials that contain phthalates in our packaging products with the following exception: the only PVC used by Avantor Performance Materials in packaging is the external plastic coating on certain glass bottles. If you are interested in further information, please see the following link: http://www.plasticsmythbuster.org (below is an excerpt). The term "phthalates," short for "orthophthalates," refers to a class of additives, which are used in some plastic products, specifically products made with a particular type of plastic - polyvinyl chloride (also known as PVC or vinyl) - to make the material soft and flexible. Vinyl shower curtains, cable and wire, and flooring are examples of flexible PVC products that can contain phthalates. |
